It feels so strange to be typing this up, knowing that it’s going on my own blog. I haven’t posted in over 2 months, but oh how I needed that break. I’ve spent so much time and effort trying to figure myself out that it took all the joy out of sharing my life, ideas, opinions, and everything else with you all. I struggled with listening to the “experts,” frustrated with accepting who I am and what that means in the overall scheme of things.
Now, I’m not saying that I’ve got it all figured out, that I’m 100% sure of what I’m doing. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. To paraphrase James Rubart’s Soul’s Gate, I’m going to jump off the cliff and build my wings on the way down. (I will be reviewing Soul’s Gate in a couple of weeks–fabulous, well-written book). After much prayer and petition, I’ve found some inspiration, and am excited to get back into blogging with a refreshed spirit.
I will not be continuing the Character Tour. Though I loved the posts, and the books and authors I got to highlight, it isn’t where my heart is now. I do hope that every once in a while I can recruit an author to write up a character post just for fun.
My passion has always been with helping others to find their light, to be their light, and to let their light pierce the darkness. Hence, my writing tagline: Piercing the darkness . . . My fiction is about people finding themselves in God, accepting the gifts that He gives them, and using those gifts to bring glory to God. I want to see more of that in my non-fiction writing as well.
Over at Managing Your Blessings, my column is on grabbing the day by the horn. Over at New Authors Fellowship, I share the joys and struggles of being a writer in these modern times. It’s my blog’s turn to grow its own wings. these are the kinds of posts I hope to offer you in the remaining portion of the year:
- Interviews with various kinds of people who are using God’s gifts
- Sharing amazing stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things
- Book reviews
- Writing/editing tips and tricks
- Whatever God puts on my heart to share with you all
My plan for organizing these posts looks something like this: Monday-Books and Such, Wednesday-Writing/Editing, Friday–Inspirational people/places/things.
What do you think? Do you want to join in on this journey with me? I am excited for the joy of the next few months.
