October 3in30 Goals

Yes, I’m diving back in. It’s time to get back down to the business of organizing my life and making some changes.

Without further ado, here are my 3 goals for October:

1. Get back on the Whole30 paleo diet, starting October 8th. I’ll be spending the next week planning out the menu all the way until the week before Thanksgiving. Then we’ll kick off the Whole30 eating plan after my in-laws leave for vacation. Both hubby and I are doing it this time.

2. Write 35K words on my latest novel, Aletheia. That’s about 1,400/day, five days a week.

3. Have the homeschool week planned out and organized better, so that I’m not scrambling each day to get everything ready. Also, commit at least 30 minutes/night to making sure everything is ready for the next day.

No more excuses, it’s time to change.

What about you? What are your goals for the coming month? C’mon, let’s hold each other accountable! (I’ll even recap with you at the end of the month post!)

You can do it, Ralene! Those are huge goals, but I know you can do it. Keep getting up early each day and that 35K on your novel will be done in no time! Good luck!

Thanks, Marla. I’m hoping that getting up early will definitely help with that!

    I’ll chime in.

I, too, am aiming at weight loss this month. I’ve chosen the 17-Day Diet. I weighed myself for the first time in months today and am horrified by what the scale read. On the plus side, I’m more motivated than before to stick to diet and exercise.

In the writing front, you’ve set a high standard! Wow. I am aiming to complete 10 chapters this month, which would be half of what is left in my manuscript. I’d like to finish the manuscript this month, but I’ve decided to let diet and exercise take priority in October.

In June and July, I obsessed over homeschooling, so that’s mostly running on it’s own now, as long as I show up for class :-)

I’ll be watching you succeed this month!

Thank you for saying, “…watching you succeed,” and not, “…watching you try.” lol… That’s encouraging.

You have two great goals as well. What’s the 17-Day Diet?

We shall conquer this month we call October. Muahahaha!

        We’re both going to succeed!

The 17-Day Diet is comprised of 3 17-Day Cycles. The first is low-calorie, grain-carb-free and sugar-free. The second adds in the heartier grains like oatmeal, and lean red meat. The third cycle includes almost everything else. If you’ve reached your weight loss goal after cycle 3, you move on the maintenance, which is following one of the previous cycles M-F, with some freedom on the weekend. If you haven’t reached your goal, you can repeat all 3 cycles in order, just 2 and 3 or stick with cycle 3 until you’ve achieved it.

I’m kind of a diet junkie :-) New diets motivate me. Obviously, if I was good at the maintenance portion, I wouldn’t need to try new diets though. The 17-Day Diet doesn’t include anything really new, but it’s packaged differently. I like that it isn’t as controlling about measuring things or counting calories or anything. Out of curiosity, I’m tracking calories with an app on my phone.

I looked at and considered what you’re doing—the Whole 30. It looks good! And your testimony is encouraging.
